Week: 5 (term 2) Ship wreck in a storm

This week the focus was on drawing motion, during the lesson we viewed videos and had to draw three stills within these videos as well as we could. The home study was to draw a pirate ship within a storm. Although I attempted to make the image as stormy as I could I feel that the water doesn't look as choppy as it could of and I think that I need to further my visual research in terms of this as my moodboard lacked images that related to waves in storms/water in storms. This piece was one of my quickest to complete to date and I am happy that I am speeding up workflow when it comes to art like this.

The image is meant to be Cthulhu eye staring at a ship but I think this gets lost slightly as I had to change the pupils colour because I didn't think about the silhouette of the ship being a similar colour to the pupil. I am however very happy with the water and I think that I textured it well enough so that it looks like water.

Moving forward with this piece I believe I could improve on the overall layout of the image and also deciding colour before hand so that the process is smoother and that time isn't wasted.
